Meet Oscar

Oscar Hernandez, founder of The Advisory Real Estate + Development and Team Leader of The Oscar Fine Properties Team, has been a Houston real estate leader since 2002. His local expertise, financial background and client-first approach make him a trusted Advisor to buyers, sellers, and investors. Oscar has closed more than $250 million in transactions and earned numerous industry accolades and designations, but he prefers to measure success through the satisfaction of his clients. Guided by a desire to help and serve others, he provides exceptional, personalized representation that surpasses the agent role - making him an integral member of each client’s professional services team. 

 

A Houston native, Oscar graduated from the prestigious Rice University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics before heading to Wall Street, where he had an eight-year career as an equity research analyst focused on the oil and gas industry. He entered the real estate industry after he’d moved back to Houston, when a former colleague sought his advice on the purchase of four Inner Loop properties. Oscar was the point person during the life of his friend’s investment; assisting with occupancy, improvements and, eventually, divestment. 

 

In many ways, Oscar's background as a financial analyst defines his approach to real estate. He views every purchase and sale through an investment lens. He specializes in using short and long-term trend analyses to determine a property’s current and potential resale value alongside in-depth market knowledge to guide his clients through the intricacies of real estate transactions. Oscar is also known for his creative marketing strategies and events - from open houses, to soiree's to client appreciation parties - and he has been creating and utilizing personalized, professional HD video to tell the story of each client's home since 2008. 

 

Oscar focuses primarily on helping people take advantage of Houston’s luxury market but believes in providing a luxury experience at every price point. He tailors his communication style to his clients’ preferences whether that be in person, via phone, text or email and provides information that is as thorough or concise as they wish. Many people in Oscar’s returning client-roster are busy professionals who are experts in their respective fields, and he’s also an expert that top Houston area agents call upon for their personal property needs or when a listing isn't selling in a timely fashion. He embraces the opportunity to collaborate with other agents on any need that may arise. 

 

Oscar firmly believes that “How we choose to live and impact the lives of others will define us.” Professionally, this translates to his commitment to his clients both during and after each transaction. Personally, it’s reflected in his charitable donations and volunteer efforts. He is involved with The Beacon, a local nonprofit that provides counseling, housing, and other civil services to bring Houston’s unhoused back into the community, and is also passionate about shaping the future of Houston which he does through his work with Scenic Houston - an organization that beautifies, connects, and improves Houston neighborhoods. Other organizations near and dear to his heart are Rice University, Kids' Meals, Inc., Ryan's Well Foundation, Living Water International, Autism Speaks, Houston Pets Alive, A Place For Peanut, Pup Squad Animal Rescue and MD Anderson.

Oscar is a resident of the First Ward in Houston. He greatly enjoys tennis, biking, leisurely walks, excellent wines and dining venues and has a deep appreciation for the arts.
